Our StoryL’Atelier is a French bakery born from a journey of passion, resilience, and a deep love for the culinary arts. My name is Julie, and I founded L’atelier after being laid off in 2023, following 14 years in the corporate world. Rather than seeing it as a setback, I took it as a chance to pursue a lifelong dream. I returned home to Paris to study boulangerie at Le Cordon Bleu, where I fell in love with the art and science of French baking.
L’Atelier is a reflection of that journey — rooted in the traditions of French cuisine, yet inspired by Philadelphia’s vibrant energy and the diverse influences I’ve encountered along the way. This blend shows through in our ingredients, our recipes, and the stories we tell through each bake.
We place a special emphasis on sourcing the finest ingredients — from local farms and organic mills to French specialty suppliers — because I believe that food nourishes not just the body, but also the mind and spirit.
After starting as an online bakery, we’re thrilled to be opening our first physical location in Manayunk. The new space features weekly baking classes, Friday afternoon bakery retail, and private events, creating a place where the community can gather, learn, and share in the joy of French baking.
We can’t wait to welcome you to L’Atelier — and to share a little taste of Paris, right here in Philadelphia.
