A Taste of Paris, Baked in Manayunk
There's a particular kind of quiet that settles over a bakery in the hours before opening, flour still in the air, the last trays coming out of the oven, everything exactly where it should be. That's L'Atelier on a Friday afternoon.
We are a French bakery in Manayunk, and while our kitchen is busy all week long: teaching, baking for our wholesale partners, preparing for the weekend , our doors open to the neighborhood for retail pickup just once a week: Fridays, 4:00PM to 6:30PM.
It's a small window, and we like it that way. Everything you'll find has been made with the same precision we bring to our classes and our wholesale accounts; nothing mass-produced, nothing held over. Croissants laminated by hand. Baguettes shaped the traditional way, with a crust that shatters the moment you break it. Canelés with that dark, caramelized shell and custardy center that can only come from real technique.
How it works:
Pre-order ahead of time to guarantee your selection — simply place your order through our online shop and swing by during pickup hours.
Walk in during our Friday window and see what's fresh that day, first-come, first-served.
Why Philadelphia Comes to L'Atelier for French Pastry
Trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, our founder brought the discipline of classical French technique home to Manayunk; not to recreate a boulangerie exactly as it exists abroad, but to translate it, generously, for a neighborhood that has embraced it as its own. Ask around and you'll hear us called one of the best French bakeries in Philadelphia. We'd rather let the croissants make that case for us.
Whether you're after a classic French baguette, a box of pâtisserie for the weekend, or you're simply curious what a real French pastry is supposed to taste like, Friday is your moment.
